Many low-level tweaks can normally only be performed on Android by flashing custom ROMs. The Xposed Framework allows you to modify your ROM without installing a new custom ROM. All it requires is root access.
Finally a good reason to root my nexus 7.

Anything like this for Gingerbread? Anything? Cause I just put that on my old N900, and it looked perfect until your ICS+ announcement.

That's not true. I have one of the rare devices with x86 Intel chip (Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 GT-P5210) and it does work!
