One of our biggest annoyances about using Windows 8 on a desktop PC was the Hot Corner feature, which bought up the Charms Bar when you hovered your mouse in the top right hand corner of the screen. The Charms Hot Corner is now optional in Windows 8.1 and here is how to disable it.
What if there is no Navigation tab in Taskbar properties?
Are you using Windows 8.1 or Windows 8?
Aha - read the title of the article and I will respond more coherently.
I'm still running 8.0, thanks!
We've actually covered the registry hack method here, which does work on Windows 8.
Based on these instructions, wouldn't the Charms Bar still be accessible by moving the mouse to the bottom-right corner?
msnight04, I've found that the rotten charms bar still does appear if you accidentally touch the bottom right hand corner even if you follow the instructions above to turn it off in the top right hand corner. After exhaustive research my solution is a strategically placed telephone that just obscures my view of the bottom RH corner of my monitor, yet still allows me to see the time. I still accidentally touch that corner and get the rotten thing up, but obscuring that corner has certainly helped. I bet a strategically placed bit of insulating tape cross the bottom RH corner of the monitor would help too.
