There’s a font for just about every occasion and eventuality, but what about those times when you need something a little different? Windows includes the Private Character Editor which can be used to create your own fonts, or just individual characters and symbols.
Nice article! Can this program be used to edit characters in an existing font?
I really appreciate this article! I live in a foreign country with a language that contains few different characters, so I can really see how this would be very helpful to me as one occasionally called upon to do graphics for different events. I was able to go in and make my new character, and I think I saved it, but I didn't understand how to then use that character. I couldn't get it into a document. Could you please give me a bit more on that process?
Thanks SO much!
Private Character Editor is useless for most purposes,
because there is no way to edit margins,
so private characters do not fit into the format of
any other font. Microsoft Technical support confirm this,
& say Private Character Editor is not intended to replace
a commercial font programme like FontLab.
