Chrome mysteriously disabled from launching

I like using Chrome as my default browser. Recently, none of my shortcuts would launch nor could I simply start Chrome, yet I could launch Edge. I reinstalled Chrome and it worked for about a day, then again would not launch. For now, I have changed my default browser to Edge, and everything launches ok. The problem is I have grown accustomed to using Chrome and its management features.

Is it possible Windows 10 is not allowing Chrome to work? Could my anti virus software (McAfee) be the issue? How can I tell what is causing Chrome to no longer function?

Try Setting your startup page

  1. On your computer , open Chrome .
  2. At the top right , click More .
  3. Click Settings . ( If youre using a Chromebook , click " Show advanced settings" at the bottom of the page .)
  4. Under " On startup ," select Open the New Tab page .

Thank you! I will give this a try whenever Chrome will again launch.

Are you still having the issue? If so you might try running the sfc /scannow command:

Yesterday, I fully uninstalled Chrome and reinstalled it. If the problem occurs again, I will try executing SFC /SCANNOW.
