No government on Earth will recognize individual claims to ‘areas of land’ on extraterrestrial bodies or objects, but that has not stopped some people from trying to do so anyhow. With that in mind, what are the legal precedents or blocks concerning such claims? Vsauce looks at the issue and more in this fascinating video.

Robert A. Heinlein wrote a book or a short story "The Man Who Owned the Moon". As I remember it (and I read it in the '50s or '60s) He bought up all the land where the moon passes directly overhead thereby claiming to own the airspace out to infinity!

If anyone is interested, I am selling heavily discounted plots of beachfront moon property for the next week only.
But wait! For the next 24 hours, for every plot you buy, you will get one free! Just pay extra for shipping and handling.

You know, this is exactly why I hate you humans. You think everything is owned, pwned, or any other wned, by someone of your kind. We Awesomians are so much better... we treat your property as yours... our property as ours....
