So you’ve just picked up your first Android phone, or perhaps you have an Android phone that you don’t take full advantage of because that’s the only type of low-end phone your carrier is offering these days. This guide will help you understand and adapt to life with an Android.

Android is Google's system and you point out the advantages. However more and more people recoil from Google's use of personal data so it's well worth considering the use of Google alternatives. Firefox can be downloaded as a non tracking browser and GMail rivals are out there even if GMail has a stranglehold at the moment on notifications.Zoho is worth considering for mail, docs etc.

Do yourself a favor and buy the book: My Samsung Galaxy Nexus (assuming you have one) by Craig James Johnston.
If you are writing for android for sure get Android Design Patterns by Greg Nudelman. Even if your not writing for android if you are a geek you should at least check out Greg's book!

Do yourself and your wallet a favor and don't buy a smart device until the OS is stable and the batteries hold longer than 4 hours.

Does anyone know how I can enlarge the font on a Gallaxy Prevail? It's so small for me that I have problems reading. Also, I tried Big Font ap and it made my phone go crazy, flashing on and off....had to do factory reset.

I am not sure where you are coming from, Harisson_Ford with your comment about stable OS and battery life?
I have been using my Samsung Galaxy S2 for many months and regularly use it for four hours or more! Sometimes up to two days before being reminded to connect charger.
