There is good news for those who have been wanting to add an extra layer of security to your Twitter accounts. As of yesterday Twitter has rolled out two-factor authentication to make accessing and using your account a more secure process.

I was disappointed that this didn't implement the standards-based authentication that Google Authenticator uses. I much prefer using this single app for my second factor.

i hate giving my number out because of all the spam calls you get when you're number is sold without your permission.

Get a Google Voice number. It becomes kind of like that one email address everyone has that's used for spam-attracting account signups.

i had google voice a few years ago and had to spend $60 to change my phone number because i couldn't get google off my account

Ah. Sucks. I haven't yet had any issues at all, been using Voice for a few years... mainly for texting though.
