Windows, Mac, and Linux can all get along together, sharing files with each other on a network. They can also share printers, allowing you to use a single wired printer for all the computers on your home network.

Just get a printer that is attached to a network. No need to share printers through another OS. Just be sure to get a printer that works with the OS's you use. HP's and Brother printers do well in my experience. If you want to use the printer and it connected to the other computer it better be running.
