Screencasting can seem a bit daunting at first. Open Broadcaster Software is a powerful, free program that will do everything you need, but you’ll need a few minutes to learn its interface.

I've always used CamStudio and FreeMake Video Converter, but I'll give Open Broadcaster and Avidemux a try.
Edit: I switched to Open Broadcaster. How can it record 1920x1080p at 30fps for 2 minutes, and save it into a 3 MB file?

Thanks! That's one I've always been curious about, just never got around to looking up. Another good one!
