If you write a lot of legal documents or other types of documents in which you need to reference specific sections, adding line numbers can be useful. We will show you how to add unobtrusive line numbers in the left margin of a Word document.

The procedure is the same for Word 2010 and (probably) Word 2007.
While I realize that Word 2013 is the latest and (cough not so cough) greatest, a lot of people are still using Word 2007 and Word 2010 (Office 2007's EOL is 10/10/2017 and Office 2010's EOL is 10/13/2020) and not everyone is going to upgrade to Word 2013 when they have a perfectly good office suite already (the reason I upgraded from Office 2007 to Office 2010 was I didn't like what I saw with Office 2013 and wanted to make sure I had a version I liked through the EOL of Win 7). I feel it would be a benefit to HTG members and guests if you would mention in the title when features in Office 2013 apps are backwards compatible with earlier versions of Office.
