Whether you want to use a new font in a Word or just change your operating system’s system font to give it a different look, you’ll first have to install the font on your operating system.

In windows, on machines you don't have admin access on, you can make a font temperately available to programs by double-clicking and opening the font.

How many fonts is too many? How much do they slow the system? I used a utility to remove over 200 fonts from my Windows system, and I notice no difference. I'm using Vista with 2g ram on a core-2 duo.
