Enterprise Mode is a new feature in Internet Explorer that allows businesses to use old web applications in modern versions of IE. This feature is designed to help businesses who still need Internet Explorer 8 for some reason to upgrade to a more modern, secure browser.

Wow. I wish I'd known about that before I had to go forcibly remove IE11 from all of my development VM's. I'm going to have to give that a shot on one of my systems.

As I understand it the difference between IE 10 and IE 11 is that you can't set compatibility mode (Enterprise mode) globally. It has to be done for each individual web site you might visit. If you have dozens of web apps in your organization as we do, that is a pain in the you know where. We are migrating from IE8 to IE10 and not 11 because of this.
