Maybe I haven't been using this site long enough but this post seem weird to have on HTG. It's a simple "how to use settings, they aren't dangerous!". I haven't really seen many (any?) of these.

On Android, they're called unread counts and are included only in premium versions of custom Android launchers - and here is a guide on how to disable this feature on iOS. Irony to the maximum.
