How many of these work on the Great Firewall of China?

Ultrasurf is a very useful tool to bypass heavy-handed filters. If you can get access to the website (a simply Google search) and then the lightweight application, you should be up and browsing in relatively fast speeds. Requires no installation whatsoever. Utilises an extensive series of proxies to get the job done.

I've tried out proxy personally for 4 years, and have seen others using VPN. VPN is slightly less complicated to use - just need to connect, choose server and you're set (e.g Hotspot shield, Orga) and also more secure than proxy. I've had some email accounts hacked because I used proxy for too long, so I would only recommend using proxy periodically.
The proxy that works right now in China is www.school1access.com, and there are millions of others but I'm just not bothered to search other ones. For security though, it's best to switch to other proxy servers from time to time.
Edit : China blocked most proxy servers. The only way to access is through VPNs (spotflux for Mac users, freegate for Windows) and some Android application provide VPNs as well.
